| New networking player enters the fray
TAIWAN'S Micronet Communi-cations Inc has entered the competitive
local networking market with the appointment of FDS Networks
(M) Sdn Bhd as its authorised distributor.
Micronet (www.micronet.info) makes a wide range of wired
and wireless networking equipment, from modems, network interface
cards (NICs), routers and switches; to powerline networking
adaptors, wiring and accessories.
FDS (www.fds-malaysia.com) is targeting small and medium
enterprises, the SOHO (small office home office) market and
WiFi hotspots, its country manager Lok Wah Chong told In.Tech
recently.
“
We’ve also received enquiries from the government sector
and are talking to satellite service providers who want to
use Micronet products for voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications,” he
said.
Lok claimed that Micronet equipment is competitively priced.
A Micronet Ethernet PC card adaptor and WiFi PCI adaptor
are priced at RM140 each, while a 108Mbps Wireless LAN access
point costs RM550.
“
However, we’re also leveraging on our aftersales support
and services to sell our products,” said Lok.
Customers can call FDS’ dedicated Micronet engineering
team for help with equipment setup and troubleshooting.
FDS sells other brands of data communications and networking
equipment through a network of 30 dealers. It is currently
looking for more Micronet dealers nationwide.
