| Cost-effective VoIP solution

WITH improved infrastructure and affordable private network line charge, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) is gaining popularity
among corporate
users as a telephony system.
The Micronet VoIP Communication Server SP5210 from FDS Networks
(M) Sdn
Bhd is one of the new solutions. It uses Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP)
technology which offers more flexibility and cost-effectiveness
compared
to the H.323 protocol.
FDS Networks' account manager Shirley Chang said the solution
is
affordable and comes with more functions, allowing enterprises
to optimise
their investments.
"
It takes less time to set up and provides good voice compression
technology," Chang said, adding that companies can save
money from paying
a monthly fixed line charge.
The SP5210 supports up to 2,000 subscribers and 200 concurrent
calls at one time. It can easily translate phone numbers
into corresponding network locations, regardless if the caller
is in private or public network.
The solution offers call monitoring which usually comes separately
from
the H.323 server solution. Other features include call forwarding,
transferring, waiting and routing.
The SP5210 is equipped with administration, authorisation
and
authentication mechanism for enhanced security. It supports
3DES
encryption and virtual private network with up to 100 VPN
tunnels.
FDS Networks is targeting organisations with branch offices
such as
those in banking and finance, government and education. Focus
will be on
those which haven't implemented any VoIP solution.
The SP5210 can work with other Micronet VoIP solutions.
